Allahabad (Uttar Pradesh): VHP today accused Union Home Minister P Chidambaram of labelling RSS Pracharaks as Hindu terrorists on the basis of "fabricated evidence."

"Ever since the UPA government led by Congress has come to power there has been a surge in conspiracies against Hindu outfits and their leaders.

Efforts are being made to label RSS Pracharaks and VHP workers as Hindu terrorists on the basis of fabricated evidence," VHP President Ashok Singhal said here.

"A whole lot of Hindu leaders like Kanchi Sankaracharya Jayendra Saraswathi, Pragya Thakur, Asaram Bapu and Swami Nithyananda have been harassed and defamed ever since the Congress-led government assumed power," he said Chidambaram had on May 11 said "Terrorism of the jehadi variety is just one of kind of terrorism in our country and there are examples of terrorism sponsored by other religious groups, particularly extreme right-wing Hindu religious group."

Singhal said that Chidambaram’s statement was tantamount to "spewing venom against the Hindu society".

"It is a matter of great concern. The Home Minister must withdraw his statement, refrain from making such statements in future and put an end to implicating Hindu religious leaders in false cases," the VHP supremo said.
