Install idols of Shri Ganesh made as per ‘Murtishastra’ : Appeal by Hindus

As per spiritual science, every Deity is a special Principle and has power associated with words, touch, form, taste and smell. No benefit can be gained by making idols in different forms other than the original as prescribed in science.

Sangli (Maharashtra) : Ganesh Festival will start from 17th September this year. Nowadays, it has become a practice to make Shri Ganesh idols in different forms and attire. At some places, the idols are shown in form of some Saint or even in form of other Deities.

As per spiritual science, every Deity is a special Principle and has power associated with words, touch, form, taste and smell. No benefit can be gained by making idols in different forms other than the original as prescribed in science.

In the forthcoming Ganesh Festival, therefore, Ganeshotsava Mandals and devotees should install idols made as per ‘murtishastra (science of sculpting)’ rather than the personified idols. The above appeal was made by all pro-Hindu and Warkari organizations during a press conference held on 4th July 2015 at ‘Veershaiva Bhavan, Mali Gulli No. 1, Ram-Mandir Road.

Shiv Sena- Festival Committee’s Shri. Anand Rajput, Shri. Shrikrushna Mali of Shri. Shiva-Pratishthan, H.B.P. Ramakant Bongale Maharaj, keertankar-Pravachakar Sou. Kamal Mali and Shri. Dattatreya Retharekar and Kum. Pratibha Tavare of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) were present on the occasion.

Shri. Retharekar said, “In 1950, Maharashtra Government had imposed ban on personification of Shri Ganesh idols and changing of its traditional attire. This ban, however, got relaxed over the years. Idols made as per ‘Murty-shastra’ are of benefit to the sculptor as also devotee; therefore, devotees and Ganesh Mandals should place order for traditional ‘sattvika’ idol that is in seating position, as per science; rather than idols made against the science. Insist for idols made of clay; instead of Plaster of Paris and the height, not over 5 feet.”

Concept of eco-friendly Ganesh is totally wrong ! – Kum. Pratibha Tavare

Kum. Pratibha Tavare of HJS said, “Nowadays, idols are made of paper-pulp, trash and discarded things, in the name of eco-friendly idols which is wrong as per spiritual science and as per Maharashtra Pollution Control Board, such idols cause more pollution on immersion; therefore, Ganesh-devotees should oppose to making of such idols and prevent causing harm to environment and Dharma.”

Formulate Code for sculptors and idol-sellers ! – Shri. Shrikrushna Mali

Shri. Shrikrushna Mali said, “Sculptors open centres for sale of idols at various places; but it has been observed that after the period of sale is over, they leave the idols in the open instead of taking them back. (Such sculptors are anti-Dharma. – Editor, Dainik Sanatan Prabhat) Bringing idols for sale and leaving them in the open is a very serious matter. Such idols can lead to denigration and any mishap. The Government should therefore, formulate a Code for sale-centres and see that it is implemented. Some rules and restrictions are necessary to be devised for sculptors, for sculpting Shri Ganesh idols.”

Shiv Sena to lodge a complaint if idol is not in human form ! – Shri. Anand Rajput

Shri. Anand Rajput said, “Sculptors should not keep idols for sale which are not in human form. If such idols are found, Shiv Sena will lodge a complaint against the sculptor under Section 295 A for hurting religious sentiments. Also, during Ganesh Festival if the local administration try to harass Ganesh Mandals, Shiv Sena will take to streets !”

Shri. Dattatreya Tukaram Mali, the President of ‘Veershaiva Bhavan’ made available its hall, free of cost. (Warkari Sampradaya and Pro-Hindu organizations have thanked Shri. Dattatreya Tukaram Mali, the President of ‘Veershaiva Bhavan’ for offering its hall for press conference, without charging anything ! – Editor, Dainik Sanatan Prabhat)
