Stop Conversions !

Shravan Krushna Trayodashi, 5111

The demand that the facilities provided by the Government to backward classes among Hindus should be made available even for backward classes in Muslims is gaining momentum. A Muslim delegation called on Mr. Ashok Chavan, the Chief Minister of Maharashtra during the last week and made such a demand.

Of course the Elections are round the corner and the Congress needs Muslim votes to regain power. It is, therefore, likely that the demand might be met. But this would be as ridiculous as not punishing a thief for stealing but instead awarding him a prize !

Castesism in Islam

The reasoning behind the representation submitted by the Muslim delegation is that among the past 2-3 generations of unreserved classes of Hindus, the Muslim mulla-maulavis propagated that Islam does not believe in casteism and so Hindus from many castes were converted to Islam. But such converted Muslims have not received the benefits of equality. They still observe casteism. The differences among these castes observed amongst Muslims are not as mild as in Hindus and it can potentially take on an aggressive form coming down to violence at any time.

To avoid washing dirty linen in public, these differences based on caste among Muslims are very cleverly transformed into Hindu-Muslim riots. One should, therefore, find out as to why Muslims are still backward. Those mulla-maulavis who lured the Hindus belonging to backward classes and converted them should be severely punished.

Punish the Attitude, not the Individual

Here, the implied meaning is that rather than an individual, such an attitude needs to be punished. There are two ways of punishing the attitude.

1. To do justice to the affected as it would amount to punishing the wicked attitude.

2. Those converted should be given an opportunity to come back and adopt Hinduism.

Any interested Muslim could be taken to a pro-Hindu leader from his area and the Government appointed representative and he would be assured that he would be taken back home. He will get all the benefits of being a Hindu from that very moment.

Double Standards

To keep a distance from Hindus or to nurture enmity towards Hindus and yet ask for the benefits related to Hindus; such double standard behavior of Muslims will not be allowed. Since Islam has failed to bring happiness in their lives, they should give up that religion and adopt Hinduism. Hindus have the right to make such demands.

Ban Conversions

Another remedy is there should be total ban on conversions of backward Hindus and a Government order need to be passed to that effect. Muslims have become used to living their lives as they please. They should be taught to observe moral values and live civilly with tolerance towards other religions.
