Taking cognizance of the incident the Chief Minister has assured that he will take strict action against the miscreants. Administrative trustee of Sanatan Sanstha, Mr. Virendra Marathe and trustee Mr. Nitin Sahakari have submitted a memorandum giving full report of the incident and the terror the miscreants have created in the area since last few years. Pictures of the injured seekers have also been attached to the memorandum.

The memorandum submitted by Sanatan Sanstha to the Chief Minister Parrikar states that – On 22nd October, a group pf youth (from Varbhat, Kavlem) returning from a Narakasur effigy competition tried to forcibly drive their truck (bearning registration GA-02 U5004) into the Ashram premises. This was done with the intention of burning the Narakasur effigy in the compound, thereby creating fear and panic in the minds of the seekers. They were accompanied by 25-30 youth carrying iron bars and sticks. This group of youth deliberately disturbed the peace in Ashram and the area surrounding it. Since last few years these anti-social elements have been troubling like-minded people who are attached to Sanatan. Some examples relating to that are given ahead.

  1. On 21st October, 2014, Sanatan’s seeker, Ms. Rajashri Mamledar was going home from the Ashram at 9.45 p.m. ; at that time a trolley carrying the effigy of Narkasur was coming towards Ramnathi from Kavlem. Ms. Rajashri was riding her two-wheeler very slowly by the side of the road; but seeing her the group obstructed her by bringing the trolley right in front of her. She was trying to maneuver the vehicle somehow; but having known her to be Sanatan’s seeker the miscreants tried to scare her by moving the trolley suddenly to the right side.

  2. In another incident, 4 seekers were travelling by car at 10 p.m. That time an anti-social group stopped their vehicle by blocking the road with a Narkasur effigy. Despite pleading for a long time they did not budge. Since they were Sanatan’s seekers and since the miscreants harbor anti-Sanatan sentiments, such hazards were being created by them.

  3. On 22nd October 2014 some miscreants forcibly entered Ashram premises and assaulted seekers; 4 seekers have suffered severe injuries, hence they had to be rushed to a hospital immediately. One of the injured has been admitted in the hospital. Many things in the ashram have been broken by these miscreants. They have destroyed a 15 watt CFL bulb at the entrance and many flowerpots.

  4. While investigating the case the Ponda police asked some suspects to come to the police station on 23rd October at 5.45 p.m. A horde that accompanied the miscreants created so much chaos in the police station that police had to let them go without making any inquiries. The same group coming from Varbhat, Kavlem passed by the Ashram twice around 11 p.m. along with 100-150 people.

  5. 23rd October 2014 was the 18ooth (4 years, 340 days) day of verbal abuse , threats, obscene words, stones being pelted at the Ashram. Many times during this period above mentioned incidents have taken place; but the police have always disregarded those incidents and have not taken any action against the miscreants. That is the reason lady-seekers living in the ashram find it dangerous to go out of the ashram and the Ashram is being targeted by the anti-social elements.

There is a big class of curious in the society following the principles laid down by Sanatan Sanstha. So these miscreants try to scare them. Therefore Sanatan Sanstha is making a request to put an end to such anti-socail activities by creating a dread among these antisocial elements that, the miscreants attacking Sanatan’s Ashram should be apprehended immediately and appropriate legal action must be taken on them.

Many complaints have been filed so far against the miscreants running amock on the road outside the Ashram, while mouthing abuses since last many years. They create fear among seekers in Sanatan’s Ashram; but no action has been taken against them so far. Police know fully well who the miscreants are; but they are avoiding taking action due to pressure from somebody. Hence the police should take these acts very seriously and take severe action against the miscreants without succumbing to any pressure. Also the Sanatan Ashram should be accorded police protection.
