Mammoth procession on the occasion of Shivjayanti

Thousands of youth members participate

Nandurbar : Preparations of celebrating Shiva Jayanti were started 15 days before the event by BJP’s Shri. Vijay Chaudhary, its city-President Shri. Mohan Khanwani, VHP’s Shri. Ravindra Pawar, Shiv Sena’s Dr. Vikrant More and activists of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS). Meetings were held for the purpose. Owing to riots at the time of Holi, permission was not granted by police even on the day of Shivjayanti; however, various festival committees were determined to take out procession and Shri. Vijay Chaudhary persevered on one side. As a result, on 26th March, police granted permission after 11.00 a.m. and more than 25 gymnasiums, festival committees, organizations got together for taking out mammoth procession. Hundreds of young men carrying saffron flags, more than 25 vehicles carrying statues of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and raising resonating slogans were overwhelming the roads. First time in the history of Nandurbar, Shiva Jayanti was celebrated on such massive scale.

The procession was welcomed at every corner. Some people were of the view that frequent communal riots creating tensions has led to big polarization at ideological level and therefore, patrons of Shivaji came together in large numbers.
