We’ve kept aside point of pollution due to Ganesh immersion

Bhadrapad Shuddha Dwadashi

Mumbai : Shri. Deenanath Tiwari, a devout Hindu and reporter of ‘Dainik Nirbhay Pathik’ caught the environmentalists in a fix during the press conference by asking them a question that the environmentalists always make a noise about pollution caused by immersion of Sree Ganesha idols in sea. They are not bothered about pollution of water throughout the year; but become concerned only when Hindu festivals approach. Does it not amount to hurting religious sentiments of Hindus? (Every devout Hindu must ask such questions to the so-called environmentalists whenever they cross each other’s path for their stance against Hindu festivals. Congratulations to Shri. Tiwari! – Editor)

A press conference was held at the Press Club on 9th September. Shri. Abhay Vartak of Sanatan Sanstha had earlier given information about Sree Ganesha festival and significance of immersion of idols in flowing water by distributing a pamphlet; based on which, Shri. Tiwari asked the question. After a volley of questions asked by Shri. Tiwari, Smt. Kunti Oza, the president of ‘Clean Mumbai Foundation (CMF)’ said that the point of pollution of sea water due to immersion of idols has been temporarily kept at bay and they did not want to say anything in the matter; but CMF, ‘Jindal Foundation’ and Municipality were trying to prevent immersion of the flowers offered to Sree Ganesha, material like thermo coal used in decorations. (Show articles and thermo coal etc. is used even by Muslims and Christians in decoration during their festivals but these so-called environmentalists would not dare to educate them – Editor)

Smt. Oza said that once they had tried from their side to stop pollution taking place throughout the year due to chemical companies; but they did not get support from people. (Just one attempt does not achieve anything in this country. Anna Hazare has been trying to fight against corruption all through his life. Why the environmentalists did not try other means to stop pollution if their first attempt failed. Or do they believe in doing something that does not affect their comfort zones but at the same time, make a name for themselves in society- Editor) Smt. Oza said that they provide bags to keep flowers, coconuts etc and separate bags to keep plastics and other things made of paper. There is good response from Ganesha-devotees to their drive and the organization is working with an aim of keeping Mumbai including sea, clean. MMC has also provided ‘Nirmalya kalash’ at various places. (There is a science behind disposing of ‘nirmalya’ in flowing water. Why are then these ‘kalash’ are kept to stop Hindus from following their customs. What are these so-called environmentalists doing whole year to stop factories from throwing harmful effluents in the sea? ‘Nirmalya’ has all natural things like flowers, leaves etc. and not harmful chemicals present in factory effluents – Editor) Fertilizer can be made from the ‘nirmalya’. (Tomorrow, the ‘learned (?)’ environmentalists might say that fertilisers can be made from human bodies – Editor) Mumbai Ganeshotsava coordination Committee has also supported the drive", said Smt. Oza. Shri. Tiwari asked her that even followers of other religions immerse flowers, leaves etc. in the sea during their festivals but nothing is said against them. Smt. Oza replied that she was a Hindu Brahmin. (What is the connection between conservation of ecology and a Hindu Brahmin? In a secular country, an environmentalist has to be only an environmentalist. Otherwise they will be like politicians to find way out to protect interest of followers of non – Hindus and give a damn to sentiments of Hindus. – Editor) "We started from Hindu Dharma as Ganesha festival is celebrated on large scale," she explained. (Or is it because Hindus do not retaliate even if anyone says anything about them and their Dharma – Editor)
