State-level mass gathering at Panaji on 17th August

Panaji (Goa): The Akhil Goa Mandir Suraksha Samiti, which is instrumental in Goa to create awareness to curb the deplorable series of desecration of temple idols and idols of Saints, has organised a state-level mass gathering to create public awareness in this regard. The said gathering has been organised at the Gomantak Maratha Samaj Hall on Sunday, 17th August at 3.30 pm.

The special feature of this gathering is the holy presence of H.H. Bramheshanand Swami Maharaj, Pithadeesh of Tapobhoomi, Kundaim. This information was given by the Akhil Goa Mandir Suraksha Samiti in a press conference held yesterday at Panaji. At this time, convenors of the Samiti, viz. Shri. Rajendra Velingkar, Shri. Vinayak Chari and Shri. Jayesh Thali; also the office bearer of Padmanabh Sampraday Shri. Sudesh Naik were present on the dais.

The convenors of the Samiti gave the following information at the press conference. In the recent past, there have been 15 incidents of desecration of Hindu temples and idols in the state. The police and the administration have been unsuccessful in curbing the deplorable series of desecration of temple idols. In order to achieve this end, the Samiti has, in the past 1½ month conducted a mass awareness campaign in all the Talukas of the State.

In the context of increasing incidences of idol desecration in the State, Shri. Sudesh Naik said that, we shall not tolerate this anymore! Shri. Rajendra Velingkar said that, Hindus have become insecure. Shri. Jayesh Thali, on the basis of information obtained through the RTI Act that, till date not even a single culprit has been booked in all the idol desecration cases that have occurred in the State.

The Samiti appeals to all devout Hindus to attend this gathering in large numbers and fulfill their duty towards Dharma. 

A report of the Samiti’s activities given in the press conference is as follows.

Blessings of Saints to the activities

The Samiti has held more than 8 of its meetings at Tapobhoomi in the holy presence of H.H. Bramheshanand Swami Maharaj. H.H. Shivanand Saraswati Swamiji of the Sree Sansthan Gaudpadacharya Mutt, Kavlem, Ponda has praised the activities of the Samiti and blessed it. Sree Sree Sachchidanand Dnyaneshwar Bharti Swamiji, Pithadeesh of the Karki Mutt of the Daivadnya Brahman community in North Karnataka, has also blessed the activities of the Samiti. 

Memorandums submitted by the Samiti at different levels

Memorandum given to the CM, meeting with 2 MP’s. 4 memorandums submitted to Collectors and Dy. Collectors all over the State. 15 memorandums submitted to various police stations.

37 meetings successfully arranged in different talukas all over the State. A minimum of 2 meetings held in each taluka. Various trustees of Temple Committees were made aware of this issue. Some of them actively participated in the Samiti’s activities.  

Positive response for the meetings

Each meeting was attended by an average of 40 devout Hindus. Altogether, 1650 office-bearers and devotees of various temples were made aware of the said matter in the above meetings.

Till date, 4 thousand people have been contacted through the Public Contact campaign.

Revelation of Hindu unity

More than 250 members of various organisations, such as the Vishwa Hindu Parishad, Bajrang Dal, Hindu Janajagruti Samiti and other Hindu organisations; Sree Padmanabh Sampraday, Gayatri Parivar, Sanatan Sanstha and other spiritual organisations, have been united and tirelessly conducting the Samiti’s activities in the past 1½ month.

Success of the public awareness campaign

After the recent idol desecration incident at Chodan, there were intense reactions of people from Canacona to Pernem. Protest letters poured into police stations from various parts of the State.

Discussions with respected citizens

The Samiti has discussed the above matter with Prof. Anil Samant, Pravachankar Shri. Ramesh Sapre and Shri. Sanjay Vairkar, Goa State Administrator of the Sree Sampraday.
