Deport foreign missionaries, says VHP

Kochi: The Kerala unit of the VHP asked the state Government to deport foreign missionaries in the state who are ‘indulging in widespread religious conversion, with the help of foreign aid’.

Kummanam Rajasekharan, organising secretary, VHP Kerala, alleged that about 150 missionary workers under tourist and business visas are camping in various parts of the country and are indulging in conversions, violating existing visa regulations. Alleging that five foreign missionary workers from USA are camping in Kerala for the last three years holding religious conventions and that they had converted about 2000 people, he demanded that action be taken against them.

He said if the government failed to take any steps to stop the ‘illegal functioning’ of the missionaries, the VHP would organise a ‘march’ to the convention centres and residential places of the missionaries.
