Conversion attempt: HJS files complaint with police

Mumbai: At many places in Mulund, advertisement of the meeting for ‘special good news and curing of ailment’ organized on behalf of Pentecostal Mission during 25th to 27th May 2007 have been put up. On the basis of these advertisements, Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) has submitted a representation-cum-complaint against the organizers of the meeting under clause 5 of ‘the Drugs and Magic Remedy Act – Objectionable Advertisement Act 1954’ with Mulund police station.

On receiving the complaint, organizers from Pentecostal Mission were called to the police station. A meeting was held between members of HJS and organizers of Pentecostal Mission in the police station in front of Assistant police inspector Shri. Galinde. Shri. Kashiram Parab of HJS, H. B. P. Dr. Vasudev Manachekar, Shri. Bhau Bagave and Adv. Santosh Dubey of Bajarang Dal were present. Police were trying to settle the matter without registering any complaint as the representative of the organizers rendered apology. Initially police did not agree that it was an offence to publish such advertisements. The representative of the organizer could not give a satisfactory reply to what kind of incurable diseases would be cured in the said meeting. Police agreed to take down the complaint as also provide policemen in plain clothes in the said meeting to keep a watch.

(Police seemed to be in a hurry to let go the missionary. What is wrong if we call them anti-Hindus?-Editor)
