Idol of Lord Ayyappa and Akhand Jyothi was installed in the Rath. Then there was a public meeting wherein Swamiji strongly objected interference of the Govt. in the temple affairs and taking over the temples. Swamiji also told only Hindus are humiliated whereas Christians and Muslims religious places are not governed by any law. Later Shri Kumaran Rajashekhar, organising Secretary of Hindu Aikya Vedi explained about the proposed law and the dangers of the law. He requested all the Hindus to unite against the proposed law.

Hindu Aikya Vedi State general secretary Kummanam Rajashekharan said here on Monday that the organization would conduct a temple protection yathra against the move to bring temples under government control.

The yathra, which will begin from Mookambika temple, kollur, on May 9th will conclude at Sree Padmanabhaswami Temple, Thiruvananthapuram, on May 25th. Devotees and leaders of Hindu organizations will conduct a secretariat march on May 26. Kummanam urged the government to set up an autonomous board for temples in the state, giving adequate representation to devotees.

"The secular government has no right to interfere in the temple administration and rituals. The government’s move to make legislation in this regard is unjust and the State Government cannot interfere with the activities of other religious institutions," he said.

<p>"There are a lot of other religious institutions like Beemapalli and Malayattor and boards like Wakf Board. I dare the government to interfere in the activities of these institutions. So, the intervention in the activities of temples cannot be justified as it is an infringement on religious rights" he said. </span></p>

He alleged that the government had mooted a proposal to bring 23 temples, including Angadippuram Thali temple and Kozhikode Azhakodi Temple under its control. Kummanam said that it would lead to their destruction.

"The state Government is taking a double standard in this regard. Atheists and non-Hindu political leaders will denigrate the purity of temples." He said.
