Hindu religious procession attacked with swords near mosque in Aligarh, UP : 25 injured

Aligarh (UP) : A procession of Hindus celebrating ‘Ram Barat’ was attacked by an estimated 150 religious fanatics when it approached a mosque, injuring 25 people. ‘Ram Barat’ is part of the ‘Ram Leela’ festival celebrated in North India. In this, Shriram and Devi Sita’s marriage takes place and then procession is taken out. It is called ‘Ram Barat’. While attacking this procession, the religious fanatics used swords, iron bars, desi pistols, axes and other weapons. They wanted to stop the procession. This attack was pre-planned. Hindu organizations protested outside the Police station against this incident. They have demanded the arrest of the accused.

The Ram Barat procession was first pelted with stones while passing by the mosque. This created chaos among the Hindus participating in the procession. After this, religious fanatics attacked the Hindus.
