Kagal (Dist. Kolhapur) :Hindus were disarmed by the British after 1857 battle and Gandhiji taught non-violence to Hindus during the freedom fight; as a result, Hindus forgot their valour. Lack of valour has led to Hindus not retaliating even when they are persecuted at various places in this country. Hindus should therefore, keep the bravery shown by Bajiprabhu as ideal before them on this occasion of his Martyr Day. The above appeal was made by Shri. Kiran Duse, the District Co-ordinator of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) for Kolhapur, during a program held at the residence of Shri. Pramod Arekar (Kalammawadi colony) on 17th July, in the background of Martyr Day of Bajiprabhu Deshpande.
The program was started with Shri. Kiran Kulkarni, Shiv Sena’s city-Chief and Shri. Kiran Duse performing ‘puja’ of picture-frame of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Shri. Kiran Kulkarni said, “Bajiprabhu Deshpande sacrificed his life for Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and ‘swarajya’. We should keep his ideal before us and take active part in the activities for protection of nation and Dharma.” Shri. Santosh Sanagar did compeering of the program.
Highlights – Self-defence demo was staged after the program by HJS. Participating devout Hindus showed interest in organizing self-defence classes on regular basis.
