Mass prayers by Christians under tight police security

Mumbai: A Christian Missionary ‘Brothers Manual Ministry’ organized mass prayers at Kalidas Hall, Mulund, a suburb of Mumbai under the guise of creating miracles, but with an ulterior motive of conversion of innocent Hindus. Before the program, Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) had lodged a complaint against it with Mulund Police Station; but in fact, police provided tight security so that the program could take place smoothly.

A police officer along with two lady police sat in the hall throughout the program. Although there were speeches to lure Hindus to adopt Christianity, the police did not take objection. More than 400 people attended the program. There were Telugus and Kannadigas as also Marathi speaking people; but this time, there were many Gujaratis who attended the program. Therefore, a few songs in praise of Jesus were sung in Gujarati and some in Marathi. Every effort was cleverly made to create concern among innocent Hindus so that they would be inclined towards conversion.

All the Hindus gathered there with a hope that their physical and worldly problems would be taken care of. Hence, after every song, the speakers were talking about such worldly and physical problems and requesting the audience to make prayers. All were therefore, saying prayers with the bottom of their heart. People were asked to jump or going around themselves in anti-clock direction while saying the prayers. Some Hindus were initially not following the instructions and not taking turn around but they were told to do it so that all their defects would be removed and they would go closer to Jesus. Hearing this, innocent Hindus started taking rounds around themselves.

The program went on for two and a half hours. During the program, for about one hour and 45 minutes, people were made to stand, sing songs and clap loudly. The older people and children were quite tired. But the speaker kept on telling them that they should bear such physical distress and pray to Jesus, only then, they would get cured. The members of the Missionary group were going round in the hall and those who were not following instructions were made to follow the same by these members.

Persons, who were earlier caught in their net, were brought on the stage and made to narrate their experiences about worshipping Jesus. About 45 minutes before the conclusion of the program, Brother (Bhai) Manuel came on the stage and pretended to say some ‘mantras’ or blowing something in the air. While doing so, he kept on saying that he did not want to convert people but he was only trying to solve their problems. He did not mention about curing any newcomers. A boy was brought on the stage. He said that earlier he had come to that hall to play ‘dandiya’ ; but once he attended prayers in the same hall and since then, he is under total influence of Jesus and worships only Him. Another boy narrated his experience; he said that due to Jesus and Brother Manuel, he got cured of severe backache. Earlier he was against those going for spreading Christianity; but with his own experience, if someone asks him to go for ‘prasar’ even in the middle of the night, he would do it.

(It is the ploy of missionaries to say on one hand that they are not converting people and on the other hand, they try to create faith in Hindus towards Jesus and make them do ‘prasar’. Hindus should be alert and realize their strategy in time. – Editor)
