‘All India Astrologers Meet’ registers strong protest against ANS Act

Mumbai: In the recently held All India Astrologers’ Meet, move of Maharashtra Government to pass the two Acts, one for Eradication of Blind Faith and the other for taking over management all temples and religious institutions in the State, was strongly condemned. Dr. Durgesh Samant, the national spokesperson of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) explained, in detail, various clauses of the proposed Act and with many examples proved how it would adversely affect even the branch of Astrology so also the concepts of Vaastu-shastra, planetary predictions, finding auspicious time (Muhurat), horoscope reading etc. which rituals form the part of Hindu religion.

Passing of the Act will jeopardize the rights of people to follow any religion, conferred by the Indian Constitution. Dr. Samant explained it clearly with many examples. All the learned astrologers in the presence of the Chief Guest and the internationally famous astrologer Dr. Pandit Subhash Sharma and President Shri. Arun Bansalji strongly condemned both the proposed Acts.

It is the State Government’s policy to impose restrictions on Hindus with political motive of groveling before followers of other religions. Shri. Ramesh Shinde, the spokesperson of HJS for the State of Maharashtra explained to the gathering about the proposed Act for taking over temples and religious institutions on recommendations of 15th Law Commission.

To avoid the imposing disaster likely to strike Hindu religion, an appeal was made for unity. Jyotish-bhushan, Shri. N R Butale, the President of Maharashtra Jyotish Conference lauded the activities of HJS and offered to work together. Prof. Arvindchandra Tiwari declared his plan to perform a ritual against passing of the Act. On the occasion, Dr. Durgesh Samant and Shri. Ramesh Shinde were felicitated in the presence of Dr. Narendra Gala, the Organizer of the meet. Dr. Pt. Subhash Sharma said that he would be meeting MLAs from different parties in this context.
