Sambhajinagar (Aurangabad) : Shiv Sena MP Chandrakant Khaire on Wednesday alleged that police has been trying to cover up their failure by blaming and defaming the Shiv Sena workers for the recent communal violence, in which two people lost their lives.
He was in the city to take stock of the situation, in the backdrop of the riots that broke out on Friday night.
Castigating police for ‘failing to control the violence on Friday night’, Khaire said. “First, they were clueless on how to bring situation under control. Then, to cover up for their failure, they have starting to blame the Shiv Sena workers for it.”
He said that the police have arrested a Sena functionary, Rajendra Janjal, who saved the lives of at least three people during the riots. “When police failed to do their job, I had to protect the people residing in my constituency. It is unfortunate that police, instead of taking proper action have arrested a Sena functionary who saved the lives of at least three people,” he said.
He demamded that police should investigate where did petrol bombs and stones come from that were used during the violence.
