Mysore (Karnataka): Hassan district administration on Saturday demolished a Dargah on Hassan-Holenarsipur road and a temple near Channapatna tank as they had been constructed allegedly on public place.

The structures were demolished in the wake of a Supreme Court directive. There was no opposition from the public to the demolition drive. Muslims offered prayers at the Dargah before it was demolished. Tight police security was in place during the drive.

According to Assistant Commissioner Kari Gowda, 16 places of worship built illegally on public places have been identified in eight taluks of the district. They will be demolished before December 31.
