Nandurbar : Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) has submitted a petition to Shri. Machhindra Gulale, Administrative Officer of Nandurbar Municipality. HJS has demanded that Shri. Ganesh idols should not be immersed in artificial water tanks and garbage van should not be used for collecting idols. Shri. Gulale promised that a joint meeting would be held with the Mayor and Chief Officer on this issue and assistance of HJS would also be sought while implementing Government’s rules and regulations.

It has been stated in the petition that immersion of idols in flowing water is being opposed by fake environmentalists in the name of preventing pollution which is wrong. It has been stated by a committee of experts that sewage water from cities and villages is carried to rivers without processing which was increasing ailments and the committee has given instructions to curb pollution. Idols immersed in artificial water tanks are collected and later taken in garbage vans for throwing on open grounds or lakes. Parts of idols get damaged and scatter leading to desecration of idols and it hurts religious sentiments of Hindus.
