We will consider protest letter of HJS ! – Indian Export Federation

Opposition to exhibition ‘Shaan-e-Pakistan’

New Delhi : Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) was informed through the office of Director General that Indian Export Federation (IEF) was seriously considering the protest letter given by HJS and waiting for decision of Industry Ministry in this context.

Shri. Shivaji Vatkar, the HJS-Coordinator had called Smt. Tutwal, the Manager of IEF to inquire about the status of protest letter sent by HJS on 7th August. She informed that IEF has taken note of the letter and it was sent to the General Manager of IEF. Then, Shri. Vatkar told her that Indians had very strong sentiments against the exhibition and demonstrations were being staged all over the country. She requested Shri. Vatkar to talk to Shri. Sunil Agnihotri, the Dy. Director General of IEF and Head of the Department. Accordingly, Shri. Vatkar called up Shri. Agnihotri and requested him to cancel the exhibition. Shri. Agnihotri said, “We have also thought about this issue and the Director General will take final decision in the matter; therefore, you talk to him.” Shri. Vatkar requested him to cooperate and reminded him that last year, similar exhibition was to be held in Mumbai but it was cancelled. This year too, such exhibition should be cancelled. Shri. Agnihotri promised to convey the feelings of citizens of this country. Later Shri. Vatkar called up office of Director General Shri. Ralhan. His Secretary, Shri. Vikas acknowledged receipt of HJS letter and informed that the letter was seriously considered and sent to Commerce Ministry. He said that decision would be taken as per instructions of the Ministry. Shri. Vatkar told him that it was a matter of honour and sentiments of citizens and demonstrations were being held against the proposed exhibition. Last year, a program ‘Pak Expo’, scheduled to be held at World Trade Centre in Mumbai, was cancelled. HJS was informed about the program and within 2-3 days, the exhibition was cancelled. There is, however, enough time for starting of the exhibition and it can still be easily cancelled. If any other information was required or discussions on the matter were to be held, a delegation can be sent for the same. Shri. Vikas said that there was no need for it and national sentiments would be conveyed to the Ministry and HJS would be informed about the decision. HJS has written to Commerce Ministry and requested to convey their decision in this context, at the earliest.
