Hindu Janajagruti promptly wrote to Business Insider, India after observing an incorrect map of India on their website.  Subsequently, we have noticed that the page with the incorrect map is no longer available on their website, but we have not received any communication in response to our protest letter.

We express gratitude to God and thank those alert readers who brought this incorrect map of India to our attention.

Please read the protest letter sent by Hindu Janajagruti to Business Insider :

To,
Ms. Debdatta Das,
Grievance Redressal Officer
Business Insider India
Subject: Request to change the incorrect map of India displayed on your website

Namaste Ms. Das,

We at Hindu Janajagruti Samiti have received complaints from concerned Indian citizens regarding the incorrect map of India displayed on your website at

http://www.businessinsider.in/the-products-most-googled-in-every-country-of-the-world-in-one-crazy-map/articleshow/47098332.cms?from=mdr

This version of the map that represents India’s boundaries incorrectly and is not in accordance with the official map of India.

Hindu Janajagruti Samiti is a registered NGO in India working for Hindu Dharma and also for society and National welfare. The Samiti is active throughout the world educating people about Hindu Dharma in a scientific way, campaigning against malpractices that masquerade as religious practices while also solving issues related to the misrepresentation of Hindu Dharma and the Nation. For further details please refer to our websitewww.HinduJagruti.org.

In the last few years there have been several instances wherein websites like Google, Facebook and channels like Al Jazeera etc. have been exhibiting an incorrect map of India. In most cases the part beyond the Line of Control of Jammu and Kashmir stands deleted from the map of India.

Displaying an incorrect map by Google is an offence under Section 69A of IT Act, 2000.  A case has been filed against Google regarding this.  Please see

Thus, using these maps on your website is tantamount to committing the same offence as Google. It is very painful and disturbing to view such maps. We the people of India have to first recognise and respect our country’s boundaries. It is important that we depict the correct map of India as we need to have pride for the Nation that we belong to.

We request you to immediately withdraw this map from the website and tender an apology to all Indians for hurting their National sentiments through this incorrect display of the Indian map, failing which we will be forced to take legal action.

We hope you will do the needful and revert to us with the prompt action taken.

Sincerely,
Hindu Janajagruti Samiti
