Raigad district Temple Trustees to oppose 'Temples Bill'

May 12, 2007

Panvel: A meeting of temple trustees will be held at Sree Virupaksha temple at Panvel on Saturday, 12 th May 2007, to take decisions regarding staging of agitation more extensively against the proposed temple take-over Act.

Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) has said that it is not an attack only on temple trustees but it is a calamity on Hindu Dharma. HJS has appealed to all trustees that they should bring the grave consequences of temple-take-over Act to all trustees from their Taluka and maximum trustees should try to attend the meeting. To make the Government realize that all Hindus are against the proposed Act, a public meeting of trustees and Hindus is proposed to be held on 27 th May 2007. Trustees of many well-known temples like Balaji Trust temple, Ramdas-Maruti temple, temple from Khopoli, Hanuman temple at Panvel and Jyeshtharaj Ganapati temple etc. will attend the meeting.
