At a time when Hindus are becoming a minority in Kerala, the community must be prepared to stand united, setting aside all personal interests, said Swamini Jnanabhanishtta of Shantananda Ashram of Mangad. Addressing the audience in connection with the inauguration of the state study-class  of Hindu Aikya Vedi, held in the auditorium of Randaamkutti Cheriyilkaavu Temple, Swamini said that family ties would freeze if people continued to dwell in the world of selfish interests.

The world must realize that Vedanta is not the prerogative of those who have worn saffron. Only if the entire society upheld these ideals would the tendency to misinterpret practices steeped in superstitions as spiritual, come to an end, said Swamini, emphasizing that we, bereft of real understanding of the concept of the Divine, have been misled into blindly accepting anything that has been put forth by Western world.

“The world must come out of selfish interests in order to keep family bonds out of degeneration. Serials, cinemas, reality shows are some of the factors that are corrupting and poisoning our society beyond what we can perceive. In such circumstances, the assumption of power by a government that will safeguard national culture is indeed a boon.
