Mumbai: A distorted map of India has been published by the international website ‘Google’ omitting Jammu and Kashmir State, some part of Arunachal Pradesh and Lakshadweep. This distorted map is shown on ‘Google’s www.maps.google.com and www.google.com/analytics . Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) held intense demonstrations in front of ‘Google’s office at Worli in Mumbai between 3.00 p.m. and 5.00 p.m. 40 activists of HJS took part in the demonstrations. A signature drive was also undertaken by HJS to protest against ‘Google’ for meddling with India’s map which was signed by more than 100 citizens.

The office of ‘Google’ at Worli was kept closed out of fear although it was a working day. As a result, HJS handed over the representation to the security guard of the office against distortion of India’s map. The security guard told the HJS activists that the representation would be forwarded to ‘Google’s main office at Hyderabad.

Dr. Uday Dhuri, Mr. Satish Kocharekar, Mrs. Vijaya Shah were some of the HJS members who were present to hand over the representation. Dr. Uday Dhuri said that Google has committed a serious offence by distorting India’s map leading to enragement among patriotic citizens. This website will have to answer to this furor of patriots. ‘Google’ will have to render apology for hurting sentiments of Indians.
