Many wrong practices followed in celebration of ‘Holi’ in New Panvel

Panvel (Maharashtra) : Wrong practices were followed at many places in celebration of Holi. Students of CKT College celebrated ‘Holi’ by throwing eggs and chemical colours at each other. Many road-Romeos with different colours were teasing girls. In many cases, 3 persons were plying on two-wheelers paying no heed to traffic regulations. Small children were throwing plastic bags filled with colourful water at each other joined by grownups and young girls. At many places water was thrown despite water shortage to celebrate ‘Holi’. Many women and girls could not, therefore, go out of their house. In old Panvel, a seeker of Sanatan had gone to deliver Sanatan’s periodical when resident of a building tried to throw colour at her. (Lack of ‘Dharmashikshan’ among Hindus is making them follow such malpractices in their religious festivals. – Editor SP)

Packets of ‘gutkha’ and different models of thermacoal used in ‘Holi’ at Thane

Thane (Maharashtra) : 20 feet demon in the form of ‘gutkha’ was burnt on the occasion of ‘Holi’ by workers and trade social organization near ‘Pedhya Maruti’ Temple. Covers of ‘gutkha’ packets worth Rs 2500/- , and different shapes made of thermacoal were kept on the logs to be burnt in ‘Holi’. Few HJS members viz. Mrs. Shaila Ghag, Omkar Phadake, Nitin Waghmare and Aniket Medhekar observed this and met Mr. Sharad Bhelasekar, the organizer of ‘Holi’ celebrations. They explained to him that it was wrong to put ‘gutkha’ covers in ‘Holi’ although their purpose was to create awareness towards ‘gutkha’. Such awareness can be created through other medium by depicting a scene etc. Mr. Bhelasekar listened to the explanation and assured that ‘Holi’ would be celebrated as per the science in future.
