….. then Maharashtra will have to go on strike for a day ! – Pujya Sambhajirao Bhide Guruji

Sangli (Maharashtra): The Central Government should have immediately convened a special session to impose a ban on the book by James Laine when the Supreme Court lifted the ban on this book. 48 MPs elected from Maharashtra should have put their demand to ban this book to the Prime Minister; but unfortunately, that did not happen. If the Government is not going to wake up in spite of agitations, one day, we will have to call for a strike in Maharashtra. The above warning was given by Pujya Sambhajirao Bhide Guruji, the founder of ‘Shri Shiva-pratishthan (SSP)’. He guided the meeting held after the rally was taken out to the District Collector’s office. There were large number of members of ‘Uadayanraje Pratishthan’ from Satara along with other members of pro-Hindu parties and organizations who participated in the rally. An effigy of Laine was burnt after the rally.

Similar rally was taken out even at Baramati.

SSP and other pro-Hindu parties took out a rally to the office of Tehsildar and submitted a memorandum to Tehsildar, Mr. Kharade. The rally started from Shivaji Udyan in Kasba with garlanding the statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.

It is defeat of Maharashtra Government that the Supreme Court has lifted the ban on James Laine’s book. The verdict passed by the Supreme Court in case of Shahabano was changed considering the sentiments of Muslims. If the Government can put a ban on the book of Salman Rushdie, it should ban even the book of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj for the objectionable matter written against Chhatrapati who is revered by millions of Hindus, demanded the agitators.

Rajendra Kale, the advocate of Shiv Sena said, “All 48 MPs elected from Maharashtra should render their resignation. If the said book is not banned, Hindus will come on the roads". Mr. Parashar Mone of SSP said that it was an insult of Hindus. About 500 devout Hindus belonging to SSP, Hindu Janajagruti Samiti, Ranaragini, VHP etc. took part in the agitation.
