America’s top ski-resort holding Hindu Lord Ganesha exhibition

Sun Valley, one of the best ski resorts in USA, is showing an exhibition on Hindu Lord Ganesha till February 20.
 
On display at Sun Valley Center for the Arts in Ketchum (Idaho), its artworks “range from centuries-old sculptures to contemporary photographs” illustrating the historical legacy and spiritual significance of Ganesha around—Discovering Ganesha: Remover of Obstacles. Lord Ganesha, the elephant-headed god, is worshipped as god of wisdom and remover of obstacles and invoked before the beginning of any major undertaking by Hindus worldwide.

As a part of this exhibition, a session on “Meditation, Yoga & Ayurvedic Healing” will be held on January eight and a “Sari Tying” event is planned on January 30. A sari (saree) is about four to nine meters long strip of unstitched cloth used as a female garment in the Indian subcontinent.
 
Hindus have commended the Center for efforts to educate the world about Lord Ganesha through various art forms. Acclaimed Hindu statesman Rajan Zed, in a statement in Nevada (USA) today, said that art had a long and rich tradition in Hinduism and ancient Sanskrit literature talked about religious paintings of deities on wood or cloth. It was an admirable attempt of Sun Valley Center for the Arts to provide avenues to the public to look deeper into concepts of Hinduism, which was the oldest and third largest religion of the world rich in philosophical thought, Zed, who is president of Universal Society of Hinduism, pointed out.
 
Sometimes referred as “The American Shangri-La”, Sun Valley is Idaho’s premier destinations which had been frequented by Hollywood celebrities like Errol Flynn, Clarke Gable, Bruce Willis, Clint Eastwood, and Warren Miller and contains the trophy homes of famous/rich. First chairlift in the world was installed here in 1936 and Nobel-prize winning writer Ernest Hemingway is buried here.
 
This Center is the oldest arts organization in central Idaho's Wood River Valley whose mission is "to provoke and stimulate the imagination while opening hearts and minds through excellence in diverse arts programming." Bill Ryberg is the Executive Director, while Trina Peters is the President of Board of Directors. Hinduism has about one billion adherents worldwide and moksha (liberation) is its ultimate goal.
