Pune’s all 5 main Ganeshotsav Mandals to immerse idols in artificial water tanks

Lack of Dharmashikshan leads to improper decisions by Ganeshotsava Mandals

Pune, 25th September – Taking note of inadequate rain and water shortage, all 5 main Ganeshotsav Mandals have decided to immerse their idols in artificial water tanks. Shri Kasaba Ganapati, Guruji Talim Mandal and other 3 Mandals have taken decision in a meeting held on 25th September to immerse idols in artificial water tanks, informed their office bearers in a press conference.

Mayor Dattatreya Dhankavde and Municipal Commissioner Kunal Kumar had made an appeal to Ganeshotsav Mandals to immerse idols in artificial water tanks. In response to the said appeal, all 5 Mandals have taken this decision. It was stated in the appeal made by them that immersion of Shri Ganesh idols should be done in water tanks erected by them so as to preserve the rivers ‘Mula-Mutha’ flowing through the city. (After immersion in such water tanks, those idols are taken out, carried in garbage vans and thrown in quarries which causes desecration of the idols; which also hurts religious sentiments of Hindus; so is the Municipal Commissioner going to take measures to avoid desecration ? – Editor, Dainik Sanatan Prabhat) Let us face the condition of scarcity of water by saving water and protecting environment. (Why does the Municipal Commissioner show concern towards water pollution only during Ganeshotsav festival on the basis of false claims ? If he is really concerned about pollution of river water, he should try to stop millions of litres of sewage water and water with chemical contamination being mixed with river water. There is need to impart Dharmashikshan to all so that they abide by Dharma on the occasion of Ganesh festival. – Editor, Dainik Sanatan Prabhat). It should also be mentioned in the appeal about following instructions of National Green Tribunal.

As per ‘Dharmashastra’, immersion of idols is to be done in flowing water. If we abide by Dharma; then we get spiritual benefit of the Ganesh-Principle.
