stampsLucknow: Union Ministry of Communications and Department of Posts is likely to issue a commemorative postal stamp on King Vikramaditya who is credited with establishing the Samvat calender followed by Hindus.

The ministry took up the matter following request of Nav Varsh Chetna Samiti, a Lucknow-based outfit backed by Lucknow Vibhag Pracharak of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Amar Nath.

UP Governor Ram Naik, too, sent a letter this month to the ministry and also talked to minister Ravi Shankar Prasad for speedy work in issuing the stamp through ministry’s Philatelic Advisory Committee (PAC).
