Udupi (Karnataka) : Vitaliy Reva a renowned international foot ball player remarried Elena Reva according to Hindu customs and traditions at Neelavara Goshala here on January 7.

Vitaliy Reva an international football player who ranks in the top 10, a goal keeper of the Ukraine National Football team is married to Elena Reva interior designer and has a daughter Vasilisa. Reva was inspired by the Indian philosophy and practices yoga and mantras to concentrate better in the game. It was his dream to get married according to Indian Tradition. He visited Dr Thanmay Goswami for treatment at Gosval Punar Nava Ayurveda center. There he asked Dr Thanmay to arrange for his marriage according to Indian tradition in the presence of cows and a spiritual environment.

 

Their remarriage was organized in great pomp matching the Hindu customs and traditions. Vitaliy and Elena were dressed in traditional attires. Dr Thanmay Goswami explained every ritual to the couple as they could understand the importance of it.

Reva speaking to Mangalorean.com said that “Man and Woman should look upon one another as reflections of the Divine” Indian traditions are inspired by the environment and the rituals have divine importance. “I feel very lucky that my destiny has selected this great place for me, just being here itself is a remedy to the mind, body and soul”.

Dr Thanmay Goswami who took lead in holding the rituals in the absence of Reva’s parents speaking to Mangalorean.com said that vitaliy was inspired by the Indian customs and traditions and likewise he expressed his desire of re-marrying according to Indian customs while under treatment. Likewise the arrangements were made in Neelavara Goshala. Vitaliy and Elena’s love for Indian customs and traditions has been expressed with their remarriage here. The Reva couple believes in Indian philosophy and their love for India is commendable, he added.

Vitaliy and Elena’s friends also joined the wedding ceremony and participated actively in conducting the rituals. The coastal cuisine, traditional decor added colors to the wedding ceremony.

Vitaliy Reva after his retirement in 2003 plays for football clubs. Reva won the Ukrainian championship twice, in 2003 and 2004. He also won the Ukrainian cup twice in 2003 and 2005.
