A Kerala writer Dr. Pratibha Rai denigrates ‘Mahabharata’

Kolkata: A book titled ‘Yadnyaseni’ written by Dr. Pratibha Rai, a writer from Kerala has put forth incidents in Mahabharata in a very perverted manner. The book was first published in 1984 in Uriya language and was later translated into Hindi, English and Malyalam languages. Dr. Rai has depicted the characters of Sree Krushna, Arjun and others in a very cheap manner. Some of the controversial parts are given below :

  • Yudhisthir deliberately tells his mother Kunti about the alms the Pandavas have obtained. It is a ploy to get Draupadi.
  • Devarshi Narad advises Draupadi that if she did not satisfy Bheema’s wishes, he would kill all Pandavas.
  • Draupadi was attracted to Karna and loved him. She did not get angry when Karna called her a prostitute. She used to feel that only Karna would be a good husband. The authores has made such reference a number of times in the book
  • In Mahabharata, the relationship between Bhagawan Sree Krushna and Draupadi was that of a brother and sister. But the authoress has depicted them as lovers. When Sree Krushna refuses to marry Draupadi, she starts loving Arjuna.

This book of the anti-Hindu authoress is being translated in Sanskrit now. In 1993, Dr. Pratibha Rai was conferred ‘Murtidevi’ award on behalf of Bharateeya Dnyan Peeth and in the year 2006, ‘Amrut-keerti award’ on behalf of Mata Amrutanandamayi Foundation.

(Such things can happen only in case of Holy Scriptures or epics of Hindus. Hindus must lawfully protest assaults on Hindu Dharma; otherwise there will be no difference between human beings and animals. Do Hindu wants to live such lifeless life? One can’t really be a Hindu if his blood does not boil after reading such trash. – Editor)
