Ganesh idols lying in the pool for 4 days: Hindus infuriated

Akola:The local Municipality had constructed pools to immerse Ganesh idols. But about 150 idols immersed in such pools were not re-immersed in nearby Lake for re-immersion. These idols were lying in the artificial pools for 4 days which has infuriated Hindus.

The fire brigade sent their staff when it was learnt that a pig had fallen in one of the pools. But the concerned department refused to take any action saying that it did not come under their purview. Later, a person got into the pool and saved the pig. It was then noticed that the Ganesh idols were still lying in the pool.

It was the duty of municipality to take out the idols from the pools and re-immerse them in Kapashi Lake. When the matter was brought to the notice of municipality, an enquiry was initiated and every section tried to pass on the buck pointing fingers at each other. Hindu Janajagruti Samiti and other staunch Hindus condemned the indifference of municipal staff and demanded strict action against the responsible persons.
