Mumbai – A video featuring the Shri Ganesh idol installed by the ‘Mulund Ka Morya Ganeshotsav Mandal’ in Mulund has recently been circulating online. In the footage, the Deity is depicted standing atop a ‘selfie stick’, implying that Shri Ganesh is taking a photograph of Himself using a mobile phone.
The video has sparked widespread outrage among devotees, with many expressing deep distress over the portrayal. “This is a direct mockery of our beloved Ganaraya,” stated concerned citizens upon viewing the footage.
Depicting any Deity away from their original form in a modern manner is an insult to our revered figures. The Hindu Janajagruti Samiti strongly opposes installing such idols. We appeal to all Hindus to engage with the organisers in a restrained manner to raise awareness and urge them to replace the idol immediately.
