Hindu Janajagruti Samiti’s representation to Bengaluru Police over past objectionable remarks against Hindu Dharma and Prabhu Shri Ram leads to cancellation of 15 August show

Bengaluru – Hindu Janajagruti Samiti had raised objections to the proposed stand-up comedy programme scheduled for 15 August 2026 at The Comedy Theatre on Church Street, Bengaluru. The organisation submitted a written representation to the Police Commissioner of Bengaluru, requesting that permission for the event not be granted.
Nasif Akhtar, who was to perform at the programme, had made objectionable remarks against Hindu Dharma and Prabhu Shri Ram in his previous comedy shows. The organisation expressed the apprehension that such a programme could hurt religious sentiments and adversely affect public and communal harmony.

In the representation, the organisation urged the police administration not to grant permission for the proposed programme, keeping in view public order, religious harmony and social peace.
The representation submitted by Hindu Janajagruti Samiti, Karnataka, also placed before the police administration details of the date, venue and earlier controversies related to the programme.
Following the matter being raised by the organisation before the police administration, the comedy show of Nasif Akhtar scheduled for 15 August at Church Street, Bengaluru, was cancelled. This is a success of the constitutional and democratic efforts made by Hindus for the protection of religious sentiments and social harmony.
