In its complaint, HJS stated that the Hindu community holds a rich religious, spiritual, and cultural tradition, wherein the sacred saffron flag is revered as a symbol of faith and sanctity. Hoisting this holy flag at a venue where gambling takes place has deeply hurt the religious feelings of Hindus.
The complaint further highlights that insulting religious sentiments is a punishable offence under Section 299 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023. The deliberate and malicious misuse of the sacred flag renders the offence even more severe. HJS has urged the police administration to initiate swift legal action against the casino management.
