A Muslim Social worker moves court against M F Hussain

Rajkot, Feb. 25 (UNI): Accusing well-known painter and film-maker M F Hussain of insulting the Hindus by allegedly portraying their deities in a blasphemous manner and pasting their portraits on a website, a social worker here today filed a complaint against him in a local court. Iliaskhan Pathan, in his complaint before a Judicial Magistrate, charged Hussain with hurting sentiments of the Hindus by drawing nude portraits of the deities and uploading the content on a website. Pathan’s lawyer Kamalbhai Sonpal told UNI the complaint was filed under sections 153, 295, 296, 298 and 505 of IPC and under the Prevention of Insult to National Honour Act. The court has directed the complainant to appear in the court on Tuesday to verify his complaint. Recently, activists of VHP and Bajrang Dal had burnt the effigy of the painter and demanded his arrest while protesting against his blasphemous act.
