HJS’ stand about Govt takeover of temples and SC on entry of women in Sabarimala

Government taking over temples and Court taking decisions on religious customs and traditions followed in temples, is like snubbing Hindu ‘Dharmashastra’ !

Mumbai : Supreme Court said that preventing women from entering Sabarimala temple was against the Constitution; whereas on midnight of 18th July, BJP Government in Maharashtra passed the Bill for taking over management of Shri Shanaishchar shrine. Both the incidents prove that temples are under attack of the Government. On one hand, Government is taking over Hindus’ temples and on the other hand, Courts are taking decisions on religious customs and traditions followed in temples, then what is the relevance of Hindu ‘Dharmashastra’ ? There are ‘Dharmadhikaris’ to formulate rules and regulations related to temples and religious customs followed by them but persons, who have no knowledge of ‘Dharmashastra’ taking decisions in that field, means snubbing ‘Hindu Dharmashastra’. It is betrayal of Hindus who elected this Government to power in the year 2014 at Centre as well as in State. The above frank opinion was expressed by Shri. Sunil Ghanavat, State Coordinator of HJS for Chhattisgad and Maharashtra, through a press release.

It has been further stated in the press release that

1. HJS had earlier exposed huge malpractices observed in many temples/ shrines at Tuljapur, Kolhapur, Pandharpur and Shirdi which are taken over by the Government while opposing to taking over of Shri Shanaishchar Devasthan. None of the scamsters from any of these temples has so far been punished.

2. Now, pro-Hindu organizations and devotees are protesting through submission of representations, holding demonstrations etc against Government for its taking over Shri Shanaishchar shrine. BJP Government has, however, not taken even a note of the same and got the relevant Bill passed which is betrayal of Hindus.

3. BJP Government should withdraw this Bill; else Hindus will rebuff BJP during elections; treating it as disloyal, was the warning given by Shri. Sunil Ghanavat.

4. He also announced that agitations against Government’s taking over management of temples would be spread all over State and will be intensified.

Muslim women should be allowed to enter mosques and durgahs since they are also public religious places !

Hindus’ ‘Dharmacharyas’, Saints, Mahants and Shankaracharya have right to decide rules and regulations for Sabarimala Temple. This custom is being followed at Sabarimala temples since ancient times, based on ‘Dharmashastra’. Study of ‘Dharmashastra’ is necessary if any practice is to be stopped. If Courts are taking decision in case of temples claiming them to be public places, is the same rule going to be fapplied in case of mosques ? Will Supreme Court take decision that ‘Mosques- durgahs are also public religious places and Muslims women should be allowed there’ ? Temples are foundation stones of Hindu Dharma and any decision related to them should be based on ‘Dharmashastra’. Our Constitution has granted religious freedom to even Hindus but Hindus have started feeling that their right was being taken away from them, says Shri. Sunil Ghanavat, in the press release.
