Karnataka : Hindu organisation protest against Govt decision about ‘Lingayat’ community

Cancel the decision of the Congress in Karnataka, giving an independent status of Dharma to ‘Lingayat’ community ! – Demand by various Hindutvanishtha orgnisations in Karnataka

Decision to give reservations to ‘Lingayat’ community is Congress strategy to ‘Divide and rule’ !

Bangaluru : HJS along with various Hindutvanishtha orgnisations made a demand here with the Congress Govt. in Karnataka to cancel the decision to give reservations to ‘Lingayat’ community in the State in view of the coming elections. Movement was undertaken on behalf of HJS in Vijapur, Shivmogga and Mangaluru in opposition to the decision of the Karnataka Govt. Hindutvanishtha had saffron flags in their hands, they also gave spontaneous slogans. After the movement, delegation of Hindutvanishtha gave a representation to the local administration. After the movement various Hindutvanishtha addressed the gathering at the above mentioned place.

It is stated in the representation that

  1. Shaivas and Vaishnavas are the two basic elements of Hindu Dharma. Mission Incarnate, and spiritual Saints can establish Dharma. Political rulers cannot take such a decision. This is how the Congress is conspiring to divide Hindu Dharma.
  2. Basically Lingayat Veershaiva are parts of Hindu Dharma. Veershaiva Dharmagurus have opposed separate Lingayat Dharma vehemently.
  3. Even ‘Akhil Bharatiya Veershaiva Mahasabha’ representing the Veershaiva Lingayat Community all over the country have also opposed it. Shrishail Jagadguru Dr. Channasiddha Panditaradhya expressed that, ‘It is inappropriate to divide Dharma in the name of Mahatma Basaveshwar’.
  4. Jagadgurus at Rambhapuri and Kashi have opposed this decision. Lingayat has no connection to Dharma, it is a Diksha-sanskar.
  5. In 2013, the then Central Congress Govt had dismissed the similar proposal. The Same Govt. now is taking a decision to give independent Lingayat Dharma for votes.
  6. If Lingayat Community is given the status of an independent Dharma then other communities too may ask for independent Dharma and if this happens then the unity of Hindu Community as a whole will be in danger and there might be anarchy.
  7. How can a devotee worshipping Bhagvan Shiv be of different Dharma ? There is no difference between the devotees of the same Deity; then why do the politicians are doing this ?
  8. Hence the decision taken by the Congress Govt, in Karnataka of giving an independent status to Lingayat Community’ should be cancelled.
