Belgaum (Karnataka) : Today’s young men and women are following wrong practices in the name of celebration of Valentine Day. It should be stopped and celebration of ‘Matru-Pitru Din’ in schools and colleges should be encouraged, was the demand made by Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) through a representation submitted to District Collector Shri. N. Jairam on 12th February. During the discussions held with him, Shri. Jairam promised to instruct police about taking legal action against any wrong practice reported to them anywhere on Valentine Day. Shri. Vyankatesh Shinde, Shri. Sadanand Matekar, Shri. Gopinath Mahagaonkar, Shri. Dasharath Palekar, Shri. Chaitanya Nandgadkar, Sou. Akkatai Sutar, President of ‘Kartavya Mahila Mandal’, Shri. Girish Kulkarni and Shri. Sudhir Herekar of HJS and Shri. Akshay Bhandari  and Shri. Bapu Sawant of Sanatan Sanstha etc. were present on the occasion.      

Representation submitted by pro-Hindu organizations in colleges against celebrating Valentine Day

Shrirampur (Dist. Nagar) : Celebrating Valentine Day on 14th February by glorifying western culture and following wrong practices is taking young generation to destruction and it has become a big social problem in this country. Pro-Hindu organizations like VHP, Bajarang Dal, ‘Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishada (ABVP)’ and Shri. Shiva-pratishthan Hindustan jointly submitted representations to Principals of R, B. N. Borakke College and C. D. Jain College.

It has been stated in the representation that in last few years, many wrong things like teasing of girl-students, harassing them in the name of Valentine Day etc. are happening. There is no relevance of this day with Indian culture; still deliberate attempts are made to promote western culture in India; therefore, colleges should see to it that such things did not happen in their premises.

Kolhapur : Awareness created by HJS amongst students towards Valentine Day

Celebration of religious festivals under Hindu Dharma will fulfill the goal of human life rather than celebrating Valentine Day ! – Dr. Mansingh Shinde  

Kagal (Dist. Kolhapur) : Valentine Day is creating perversions amongst youth; there is increase in immoral behavior and promiscuity. We always love our parents, siblings etc. throughout the year; therefore, it is wrong to celebrate ‘Mother’s Day’ or ‘Father’s Day’, Valentine Day etc. Even western countries are not celebrating Valentine Day as earlier; but importance of celebration of Valentine Day is increasing in India. There are many festivals and religious festivals in Hindu Dharma. Our life will be fulfilled if these festivals are celebrated as per ‘shastra’ stated Dr. Mansingh Shinde of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS). His lecture was organized on 8th February at Shri. Shahu High School’s Junior College regarding adverse effects of celebrating Valentine Day, for creating awareness amongst students. His lecture was held in 11th standard class in presence of 125 students. Shri. Shinde also spoke about ideal personality and abiding by Dharma along with reducing our personality defects and inculcating good qualities.

Karwar : Demand to promote celebration of ‘Matru-Pitru Pujan’ Day instead of Valentine Day !

Karwar (North Canara Dist. Karnataka) : Many malpractices take place in the name of celebration of Valentine Day on 14th February, with lot of immoral activities by emulating western culture which encourages materialism. Representation was submitted to the District Collector of North Canara by pro-Hindu activists demanding to curb such immoral activities and take stringent action against the concerned. There was also a demand to promote celebration of ‘Matru-Pitru Din’ in schools and colleges.

VHP’s Shri. B. G. Mohan, Shri. Sagar Kudrekar of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti and Shri. Prashant Pedanekar a devout Hindu formed the delegation submitting such representation.

Nandurbar : Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) and other pro-Hindu organizations staged demonstrations on 12th February under the aegis of ‘Rashtriya Hindu Andolan’ at Nehru Chowk to protest against celebration of Valentine Day; by throwing shoes at its symbolic effigy. Demands regarding ISIS and Amarnath pilgrimage were also made during the demonstrations held at 10.00 a.m. followed with submission of representation listing demands, to District Collector’s office.

Sou. Kalyani Bangal of ‘Ranaragini’ Division of HJS said that today’s young generation is drifting away from Indian culture under the influence of films, plays and TV and they are happy in blindly emulating western culture.

Sanatan Sanstha’s Sou. Nivedita Joshi said about Amarnath pilgrimage that duration of this pilgrimage is being reduced every year and this year too, the period has been curtailed by 11 days. It is not just the question of religious sentiments of Hindus but it is the only connection between Indians to associate with Kashmir and its duration is being curtailed; so also facilities extended to pilgrims.

Dr. Narendra Patil of HJS presented the topic related to ISIS. He said that there are people who clandestinely support ISIS which is inciting Indian youth to wedge war by training them jihad and its danger has increased. The Government is expected to take stringent and timely action on this problem.   

Shri. Yoga Vedanta Seva Samiti’s Shri. Prahladbhai stated while making an appeal to young generation to celebrate ‘Matru-Pitru Din’ that good qualities which help in nurturing our culture should be imbibed. Shri. Dheerajbhai, Shri. Vasubhai of Shri. Yoga Vedanta Seva Samiti and Punditji of Jain temple were present. The pro-Hindu organizations participating in the demonstrations were Shri. Shiva-Pratishthan Hindustan, Shri. Yoga Vedanta Seva Samiti, Sanatan Sanstha, Gou-raksha Samiti and various gymnasia.

Highlights : Demonstrators were hitting at symbolic effigy of Valentine Day with shoes. An old woman was passing by and she too took part in hitting the effigy with shoes.

Stop incidents of wrongdoing happening in the name of Valentine Day : Representation submitted at Sangli

Sangli : Government should take steps for prevention of wrongdoings taking place in the name of Valentine Day and this day should be declared as ‘Matru-Pitru Din’ was the demand made through representation submitted to Shri. Subhash Borkar, zonal officer at Miraj and acting-Tehsildar Smt. Dhanashree Bhambure at Ishwarpur; besides Police Inspector Shri. Pratap Mankar at Ishwarpur and 6 schools and colleges. 50 handbills were also distributed in college. Activists of pro-Hindu organizations like Shri. Shiva-Pratishthan and Hindu Janajagruti Samiti were present at Ishwarpur whereas at Miraj, members of Shiv Sena like Shri. Pundit Karade, Shri. Gajanan More, Shri. Vivek Shinde, Shri. Dilip Naik, Shri. Rama Kurane, Shri. Satish Naik, Shri. Chandrakant Maigure; BJP’s Shri. Ganesh Chougule, Shri. Ajinkya Hambar, Shri. Sumedh Thanedar and its Yuva-Morcha’s Shri. Jaigond Kore, Shri. Kagal (Dist. Kolhapur) : Valentine Day is celebrated on 14th February emulating western culture and many incidents of immoral nature which are against our culture and Dharma take place on this day. ‘Hindutvavadis’, therefore, submitted representations to Tehsildar, Shri. Shahu High School Junior College and D. R. Mane College demanding prevention of such wrong things. Shri. Sambhaji Bhokare, Dy. District Chief of Shiv Sena, Shri. Shivagonda Patil, Dy. Taluka-chief, Shri. Vijay Arekar, taluka-chief of Shri. Shiva-Pratishthan, Shiv Sainiks viz. Shri. Suresh Vaidya, Shri. Ananda Patil, Shri. Rangarao Patil, Shri. Amol Barad and activists of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) Shri. Santosh Sangar, Shri. Preetam Pawar and Shri. Deepak Bhopale etc. were present on the occasion.

Tehsildar, Shri. Shantaram Sangade promised the delegation of ‘Hindutvavadis’ that he would write letters to police stations, schools and colleges creating awareness in them. He also appreciated activities undertaken by HJS. Principal Dr. Chougule of D. R. Mane College was given representation too. He promised to carry out various drives undertaken by HJS even in his college; including creating awareness amongst students regarding Valentine Day. Similar representation was submitted to Shri. Sunil Pasale, the Principal of Shri. Shahu High School and Junior College.

Representation submitted in colleges against misconduct in the name of Valentine Day !

Gadchiroli : Representation has been submitted to schools and colleges by members of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti, Bajarang Dal and Durga-Vahini etc. for preventing wrongdoings happening in the name of celebration of Valentine Day and demanding that schools and colleges should undertake drives for protection of Indian culture. The delegation submitting such representation to colleges such as Shivakrupa College, Shivaji College, Government Science College, Women’s College and Government Technical College, comprised of Sou. Pragati Mamidwar, Shri. Vijay Madavi, Shri. Guddu Kasarlavar, Shri. Rakesh Naitam, Shri. Samar Hazra and Sou. Tilottama Hazra.  Awareness was created amongst students.

Mumbai : On 14th February 2016, ‘Matru-Pitru Pujan’ Day was celebrated on large scale at Nehrunagar, Kurla (East) under the auspices of ‘Yuva Hitakarini Sangh’ by ‘Bharatiya Yuva Shakti’ like every year. In this program, children from orphanage homes did ‘puja’ of old people invited from senior citizens’ homes. Organizations participating in this drive were Hindu Janajagruti Samiti, Hindu Gou-raksha Samiti, Shivakarya Pratishthan, Hindu Rashtra Sena, Bharat Vukas Manch, Bajarang Dal, Hindu Mahasabha, Youth Panun Kashmir etc. and the dignitaries attending this program were former Indian police officer Shri. D. G. Vanjara, Shri. Suresh Chavanke of ‘Sudarshan’ channel, Shri. Umesh Gaikwad of Bajarang Dal and Shri. Satish Kocharekar of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti.    

Nandurbar : Awareness created by HJS in colleges and schools on Valentine Day

Nandurbar : Representations were given to Principals of 18 school and colleges by Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) about protection of Indian culture by preventing wrongdoings happening in the name of celebration of Valentine Day. More than 3000 students were made aware of this subject through lectures arranged in 11 schools and colleges. Thousands of students raised their hands to make a resolve of celebrating ‘Matru-Pitru Din’ instead of Valentine Day. Dr. Narendra Patil of HJS and Sou. Kalyani Bangal of its ‘Ranaragini’ division guided the students.     

Lectures were organized for creating awareness at Jijamata College, Law College, Yashawant Junior College, D. R. Junior College, Shroff School, Abhinav School, Eklavya School, BCA College, New Marathi School’s Junior College, Nutan Junior College and Pharmacy College.

Effect of awareness created by HJS !

HJS has been actively making efforts to oppose celebrations of Valentine Day and it was observed that there was noticeable reduction in sale of greetings cards and gifts compared to last year in Nandurbar city.
