Adoni (Andhra Pradesh): Hindu Janajagruti Samiti has demanded that the Central Govt. should remove the distorted history presented in NCERT textbooks. Samiti after successful campaigns in the state of Maharashtra, Goa and Karnataka now launched the campaign in Andhra Pradesh. More than 25 protestors started the protest from the VHP office in Adoni, a town in Kurnool district and 40 students from Sai Junior college joined the protest rally.

The rally went through the main road of Adoni and reached the Bhima Circle where protestors formed a circle and the traffic from all the sides was stopped.  The protestors were shouting the slogans against the NCERT and the Central Govt. Shri. Ramanjaneyulu from HJS while speaking to the crowd said that the Govt should immediately remove the distorted portion from the NCERT books. He also said that incase the Govt. fails to do so Samiti would launch a statewide agitation. He said that there is 60 pages for the Mughals where as there are only 8 lines for Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. After this a effigy of NCERT was burnt amidst huge roar of slogans.

After this the rally went to the Revenue collectors office where hundreds of people were watching the protest rally with curiosity. Shri. Rajan Shinde, South India spokesperson of HJS addressed the protestors and gave an strong warning to Govt. by warning that Samiti would agitate aggressively all over India. Then the memorandum was submitted to the Revenue collector Shri. T. Venugopal reddy who came out of his office and accepted it. The Collector gave a patient hearing to Samiti members and assured of sending the memorandum to the State government.

Special features of Protest

1. Shri. Mahesh, Active member of ABVP requested the principal of Sai Junior college to send students for the protest. When the Principal was in not agreeing, Shri. Mahesh told him Importance of Dharma and the need to protect it. Only after this the Principal consented. Later Shri. Mahesh went to class and gave a brief lecture to students on the Distortion by NCERT. After this atleast 50 Students of Sai Junior College participated in the protest.
2. Activists from VHP, ABVP, Bajrang dal and RSS also participated in the protest.
3. The Police were nowhere to be seen. Even though the rally went in front of the Town Police station, the police officers did not take any trouble in peeping out.
4. The preparation for the protest was made within a day by local Devout Hindu youths.
5. Many people watching the protest were curiously asking about the campaign and Hindu Janajagruti Samiti.
6. Reporters of leading newspapers of Andhra like Eenaadu, Sakshi, Andhra Bhumi, Andhra Jyoti and Surya were present during the protest
7. The protest started with Prayer and ended with Gratitude to God.
