Special dialogue on ‘Jihadi attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh’!

…In that case the day when the Hindus in West Bengal will be oppressed like the Hindus of Bangladesh is not far ! – Mr Tathagata Roy, former Governor

Mr Tathagata Roy, former Governor

It is surprising that no one is talking about the on-going oppression of Hindus in Bangladesh. Most Hindus in West Bengal, whose ancestors were Hindus from the present-day Bangladesh, are under the influence of leftist ideology, and hence, are ignoring atrocities against Hindus in Bangladesh; but the day is not far when the Hindus in West Bengal will also be oppressed in a manner similar to those in Bangladesh ! The former Governor of Tripura and Meghalaya Mr Tathagata Roy not only asserted that the Government should come forward to prevent attacks on Hindus, but also stressed the urgent need to create awareness among Hindus to prevent attacks on Hindus in Bengal and other places in India. He was speaking in an online special dialogue organized on behalf of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti on the topic ‘Jihadi attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh!’

Advocate Satish Deshpande, who is a history and culture scholar, as well as an author, also participated in the online special dialogue. He said, ‘despite Bangladesh becoming independent in 1971 what have we done for the Hindus there ? Under what condition are the Hindus there leading their lives ? Hindus in India seem to have nothing to do with the pathetic state of their Hindu brethren in Bangladesh. Very recently 14 Hindu temples were razed in Bangladesh. India has not even responded in this regard. Fact is Hindus are not at all sensitive to such issues, and as a result even though they are being oppressed in many countries around the world, no voice is raised. Instead of depending on someone else to act in Hindu interest, agitations should be held in villages and cities alike to awaken Hindus about the plight of Hindus around the world. Similarly, if there is oppression of Hindus in Bangladesh or anywhere, the Government should be pressurised to take action against it’.
