Take our salaries, don’t use Hussain: Shiv Sena

So upset is Shiv Sena with artiste MF Hussain over his ‘objectionable paintings of Hindu Gods and Goddesses’ that it doesn’t want his painting to be used in the Mumbai Police’s ‘Mumbai Unbreakable’ campaign.

Shiv Sena leader and Leader of Opposition in the Assembly Ramdas Kadam said that he has already voiced his strong opposition to the campaign with Deputy Chief Minister R R Patil.

“How can the police have a painting by a person who has painted Hindu gods and goddesses in nude, this man has more than 1200 cases filed against him in different police stations. He is avoiding the police by hiding in Dubai and our police are encouraging him by having an exhibition of his paintings,”said Kadam.

While Kadam said that Sena won’t disrupt the auction of Hussain painting by sena style but the party would raise the issue in the state assembly. He also said that they would contribute from the salaries for the police welfare fund for which the painting is being auctioned.

Hussein’s painting ‘Bhartiya Kanya’ which is being displayed across hoardings in the city, depicts actress Amrita Rao as a young girl who is the symbol of women power and youth in the painting.

Hussain has been living in Dubai as he is afraid of being arrested for the countless obscenity cases filed against him by different individuals and organizations in different parts of the country. The latter had recently petitioned the Supreme Court asking all the cases to be transferred to Delhi.
