MP CM announces inclusion of lessons on Parshuram in school curriculum, honorarium for temple priests

New Delhi: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Tuesday made several announcements, including the inclusion of a lesson on Bhagwan Parshuram in the school curriculum.

He also said that his government has decided to give scholarships to all students studying in Sanskrit.

Addressing a gathering after unveiling a 21-foot tall metal statue of Bhagwan Parshuram in a programme named ‘Akshayotsava’ at Bhopal’s Gufa Mandir premises,  Chouhan also announced an honorarium of Rs 5000 per month to the priests of temples having no land.

“The priests of temples having no property will be given an honorarium of Rs 5,000 per month. Also, there are temples having a large amount of land. The honorarium of priests in such temples will be arranged through (the management of) their land,” he said.

Chouhan said that a committee would be formed to keep the temple property safe.

Asserting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s mantra is “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayaas”, the Chief Minister said the general public has become capable due to the same.

Chouhan said people can never leave behind the “Sanatan Dharma”, but “Raj Dharma” is also necessary.

“Therefore, Sanskrit scholars are necessary for social welfare. We have started recruitment of Sanskrit teachers. I will direct the curriculum committee to include a lesson on Bhagwan Parshuram in the syllabus,” he added.
