Rajasthan Govt should immediately cancel its plan to take over Shri Mehandipur Balaji Mandir : HJS

Pass law even for taking over dargahs, mosques and churches if you want to take over only temples ! : HJS

Jaipur (Rajasthan) – Congress Government has issued a notice to the famous Shri Mehandipur Balaji Mandir located in Dausa about taking over its management. The Government has issued such a notice only 5 days after the death of Mahant Kishorepuri Maharaj of this temple. ( The present governments are taking over Hindus’ temples just as the British used to take over Indian princely States. Devout Hindus from all over the country should oppose such things!- Editor, Dainik Sanatan Prabhat) It is an insult to millions of devotees connected with this temple and we condemn it. Presently, the Rajasthan High Court has issued a stay order against the State Government for taking over the temple. As per the Supreme Court’s directives also, governments’ taking over temples is ultra-vires of the Constitution. As such, the Rajasthan Government should immediately stop the process of taking over Mehandipur Balaji Mandir. The Government should pass a law for taking over dargahs, mosques and churches if it has guts. A memorandum with the above demand has been submitted by Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) to the State Chief Minister, the Minister related to ‘Devasthan’ Department and the Chief Secretary.

It has been stated in the memorandum submitted by HJS that

1.In the case of Dr. Subramaniam Swamy against the Tamil Nadu Government and even in other cases, as per the orders issued by the Supreme Court, a government can help a temple for some time to set right irregularities, if any, found in the management of temples; but presently, the governments permanently take over temple management. Taking over the management of temples and keeping it permanently with the government administrations is a breach of the basic religious freedom conferred under Article 26 of the Constitution. Keeping management of Shri Mehandipur Balaji Mandir or any other religious institutes with the Government is also against Article 26 (B) of the Constitution.

2. Catholic Church owns the maximum non-agricultural land in this country. Wakf Board has 4 lakh acres of land after the Indian army and Railways. There are many disputes against their lands; therefore, the Government should pass a law for taking over management of even religious places of the Muslims and the Christians. If it is not possible for the Government to do so, it should immediately cancel the proposal of taking over Shri Mehandipur Balaji Mandir. HJS has also demanded setting up of a committee by appointing an honest retired judge, administrative officer, local eminent personality, Dharmaguru, priest and devotees on this committee which should be given the right to manage temples.
