Idols of Hindu deities damaged, Hindus agitate

Nagpur: At Kamathi about 20 kms from Nagpur, idols of Hanuman and other deities were found damaged. On the day of Makar-Sankranti, many Hindus were going to temple when it was discovered that in two of the temples, idols were damaged. There is tension in the town.

The locals came out and blocked the roads as a mark of protest against the incident. People were enraged on hearing the news. Additional police force was deployed to bring situation under control. Police drove away agitating crowd and cleared the traffic. Some of them pelted stones at shops and caused damage. All shops were therefore, closed. As per the police report, the situation is tense but under control.
