Temples are not safe in Congress regime : Enraged citizens march to police station

Panaji (Goa): There was burglary in ‘Gram-devata’ of Pilarn Village, Sri Shantadurga Pilarnkarin Devi’s temple at Bardesh. The enraged local residents took out a rally to the police station.

Gold and silver goods worth Rs.3 lakhs were burgled from the sanctum sanctorum of the temple by thieves. About one and a half years back, an attempt of robbery was made in the same temple. Considering the current rate of gold and silver, the cost of the stolen goods would be more than Rs. 3 lakhs; but the police have noted in their FIR, value of goods as Rs. 1.13 lakhs that prevailed 7 years back. (Disgraceful attempt of the police to write the value of stolen goods as they want rather than taking into account the present market price to reduce the seriousness of theft ! – Editor SP) There is alarm system fitted in the temple; but the thieves took advantage of load –shedding to carry out the burglary.

Enraged citizens march to police station

Enraged locals marched to Parvari police station. About 100 local residents, including representatives of ‘Gomantak Mandir and Dharmik Sanstha Mahasangh’ and representatives of other organizations, were present on the occasion. All citizens ‘ghraoed’ Police Inspector Devendra Gad demanding arrest of the robbers within 48 hours, reimbursement of Rs. 5 lakhs towards the damage caused and setting up a squad for protection of temples. The Superintendent of Police, North Goa was not available in the office; therefore, many local residents went to the police station even in the evening to meet him. They warned that if the culprits were not nabbed within 48 hours, agitation would be intensified. (Such warnings have not affected the Government in any way so far; therefore, now, time has come for the devotees to take the next step and the Government will be solely responsible for such action ! – Editor SP)

The police informed during the discussions that they would be increasing patrolling in temple areas but it would not be possible to provide police protection for individual temple. (The Government that gives donation to every Muslim going on Haj pilgrimage, is unable to provide police protection to only temples despite levying tax on all Hindu temples ! – Editor SP)

Police do not keep their promise

It was assured by the police to ‘Mandir Samiti’ about two months back that patrolling would be increased during night in Pilarn temple area; however, there was no noting in their register about going on even a single round in the area. (This shows that the police department is not serious about incidents of theft occurring in temples. What action the Government proposes to take against such police ? – Editor SP)

Police try to hide the register to cover up for their mistake !

The office bearers of the temple today asked the police officer about the matter; but they were given evasive answers. The police also tried to hide the register-book; but the blank register –book was taken into custody by the office bearers. (Can those who try to hide the register to cover up their mistake, be called police or should they be called criminals? Who can believe such police force? People are forced to take law in their hands due to such action by the police. – Editor SP) It has come to light that at Sri Prabhu Devsthan in Kamurli, police have made false note of patrolling at night when, in fact, they had gone for patrolling during the day.

Police take 2 hours to reach the place of incident

The place of incident is few kilometers away from the police station but the police took 2 hours to reach the place along with their dogs (If such incident had taken place in case of a mosque, would the police dare to show such indifference? – Editor SP) leading to enragement of the people.
