Misuse of Sambhaji Maharaj’s picture for advertising Id

Pune: It was observed that the famous picture of Dharmaveer Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj tearing the jaw of a lion was misused for displaying an advertisement of ‘Idd Mubarak’ near a slum area and other places. When the matter was brought to the notice of Shri. Milind Ekbote, the municipal councilor and chief executive of Pratapgarh Utsav Committee, he immediately lodged a complaint and demanded strict action against the culprits.

In his complaint, Shri. Ekbote has mentioned that it is insulting to Hindu population to misuse the renowned picture of Sambhaji Maharaj in such a manner for advertisement of ‘Idd Mubarak’ and has demanded stern action against the concerned. But the police tried to avoid taking any action by asking the complainants whether they had any proof of such misuse. The matter was followed up with the police and it was warned to start agitation in case no action was taken. Finally, police had to remove the controversial banner.
