Hindus’ festivals and religious festivals are integral part of Hindu culture ! Lokmanya Tilak brought forth the concept of celebrating Ganesh festivals publicly for protection of nation and Dharma. Today, the main purpose of celebrating public Ganesh festivals has been defeated, owing to lack of ‘Dharmashikshan’.  Many perverted things are included in these festivals and there is commercialization of festivals. Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) and like-minded pro-Hindu organizations along with devout Hindus have been striving to create a section of Hindus who would take active part in revival of nation and Dharma by removing stupor in them. HJS, like-minded pro-Hindu organizations and devout Hindus have been undertaking various drives for stopping wrong things happening in celebration of religious festivals under which representations are submitted to the Government; awareness is created amongst festival committees, participation in debate sessions on news channels and through lectures and periodicals, explaining importance of immersion of idols etc. The movement has spread extensively and large number of youth is coming together so also resolving to celebrate festivals in ideal manner. It is a step towards imminent Hindu Rashtra.  Workshop was held at Mumbai on 15th July.

Kalyan : Religious festivals are an integral part of Hindus’ existence. People should celebrate festivals as religious ceremonies and not as public festivals. We will get benefit only if we abide by Dharma while celebrating religious festivals. Festival committees have to approach State departments separately for obtaining various permissions such as fire brigade, police, municipal corporation etc. causing lot of inconvenience to these committees. The Government should, therefore, operate ‘single window’ system to avoid such inconvenience. Let all committees come together and submit a representation to the Government in this context, stated advocate Vivek Bhave while addressing a Workshop held on coordination between festival committees on 29th July from 5.00 p.m. to 8.00 p.m. by HJS. Shri. Modak Maharaj, revered founder of ‘Sadguru Swami Samartha Seva Trust’ had sent a message for the Workshop, bestowing his blessings.

The program was started with blowing of conch and lighting of lamp. It was compeered by Dr. Diksha Pendbhaje. Sou. Vedika Palan of HJS explained the purpose of holding such Workshop. Representatives of 24 festival committees, 2 pro-Hindu organizations and 26 devout Hindus attended the Workshop. Group discussions were held in the last session. Many participants narrated their good and bad experiences during these discussions. They also said that they would work for unification of Hindus through ideal celebration of Ganesh festival and they would abide by Dharma by educating themselves in matters related to Dharma.

Celebrating festivals as per Hindu culture will benefit not only society but individuals also : Abhijit Bhojane, HJS

Lokmanya Bal Gangadhar Tilak started public celebrations of religious festivals. It created many revolutionaries. Presently, Ganesh festivals are celebrated like holding of a competition. Lot of money is spent on decorations which fetches no benefits to us. We should keep a note that society and even individuals would be benefited only when religious festivals were celebrated as per Hindu culture. We should remember that religious festivals are inseparable part of Hindu culture. We will acquire God’s grace only when we maintain sanctity in celebrating these festivals.

It is time to work with unity through medium of religious festivals : Girish Dhokia, President, Dudhnaka Ganesh Mandal

Lokmanya Tilak promoted public celebration of Ganesh festival for uniting people. We need to study whether we are celebrating the festival in such manner. Condition of this country is quite serious and Hindu Dharma is in danger; therefore, it is time to celebrate festivals publicly, with unity, for protection of Dharma. Let us resolve to use idols made of clay, instead of Plaster of Paris (PoP) so as to avoid water pollution. We should avoid malpractices in celebrating this festival such as playing of film songs on loudspeakers, consuming liquor, gambling etc and celebrate Ganesh festival in ideal manner by abiding by Dharma, was the appeal made by Shri. Girish Dhokia.

Let us carry forward the movement started by HJS thro’ celebration of festivals and create ideal in front of people : Bala Parab, Rambaug Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav Mandal

Many religious drives are undertaken through the medium of festival committees. We should preserve our culture through this medium. Festivals should be celebrated to get joy; but it is very unfortunate that now, they are celebrated in perverted manner. Hindu culture is supreme in the whole world. We need to study the manner in which we are celebrating our festivals. The movement undertaken by HJS is laudable. HJS has been working as the pillar of strength for all festival committees; so let us carry forward the movement started by HJS through festivals and create ideal before people.

Lack of Dharmashikshan amongst Hindus leads to unintended distortions : Dr. Upendra Dahake, BJP – Vice President, Kalyan city

Lack of ‘Dharmashikshan’ amongst Hindus leads to inadvertent distortions. Money is collected forcibly from people for celebrating festivals which is like collecting ransom. Making certain gesticulations looking at women is like their molestation. People join processions after consuming liquor or start gambling in pandals where idols are installed; therefore, restrictions are imposed on us. Ganapati is the Deity of knowledge, intellect. Why are we then behaving in destructive manner? There is need to study this aspect. We should forget all differences and celebrate Ganesh festival in ideal manner with unity.

Festival committees are medium of creating ‘Dharmajagruti’ and for protection of Dharma : Shambhu Gaware, Sanatan Sanstha

There is need for unity in coming period. Hindu Rashtra will be established in 2023; so let us do our bit in this mission by joining ‘Dharmakarya’. Lokmanya Tilak helped in uniting the discontent brewing in people’s mind against the British Rule. We have to help festival committees in creating ‘Dharmajagruti’ amongst people and for ‘Dharma-rakshan’.

The drive to bring together all public festival committees is commendable : Shri. Anand Maharaj, the Founder of ‘Sadguru Swami Samarth Seva Trust’, Kalyan (west)

The drive undertaken by you for uniting all public committees is very good and commendable. I was also thinking of uniting such festival committees but God is getting it done, though late, through your medium and I am very happy about it. Awareness needs to be created towards malpractices happening through the festival committees and festivals should be celebrated in ideal manner. I feel that Hindu culture should be protected through this medium and all committees should come together. Lots of best wishes and blessings !

Hindus are not abiding by Dharma these days. Parents do not try to inculcate good qualities in children. The young generation is therefore, drifting away from our culture. We shall soon become minority if such things go on. Abiding by Dharma is therefore, necessary to change prevailing situation. Let us be devout Hindus, by abiding by Dharma; instead of being only Hindus because we are born as Hindus. It will protect our future generation and our culture. Everyone should therefore, observe certain restraints. Today, if we observe certain self-control for abiding by Dharma, it will invoke love and respect amongst future generations towards our Dharma.
