Unsafe temples in Congress – led State of Goa !

Things worth lakhs of rupees stolen !

Ponda (Goa) : Thieves have stolen gold ornaments, cash etc. from Brahmadev temple at Brahmakaramali (Sattari taluka), Sree Hanuman Temple at Kone Priyol and Sree Tirupati Devsthan Temple at Kunkalli worth lakhs of rupees in the last two days. The incidents of theft in temples in Goa have increased but police have failed in preventing the thefts.

On the night of 28th October, there was theft in Brahmadev Temple at Brahmakaramali. On the following day, Mr. Anand Shelapkar, who cleans the temple premises, noticed the same and he informed Mr. Sandip Kelkar, the priest of the temple. Mr. Kelkar lodged a complaint with the police at 11.00 a.m. The police visited the temple at 4.00 p.m. The robbers have stolen cash worth Rs.1000/- from the donation box. Similar theft had taken place in Sree Hanuman Temple at Ambede on the night of 27th October. It is, however, learnt that complaint has not been lodged with the police in this case. (Will God bestow His grace on those Hindus who did not lodge complaint with the police about the theft? – Editor SP) On 30th October, in the night, the robbers stole things worth Rs.3,20,000/- from Sree Padmavati Temple from Tirupati Balaji Temple Complex and Sree Ganapati Temple.

The thieves broke the window in Sree Padmavati Temple. When the security guard at Sree Padmavati and Sree Ganapati Temples realized about the thefts taking place, he raised an alarm but the robbers taking advantage of darkness, disappeared in the nearby trees stealing gold and silver items.

In Sree Tirupati Balaji Temple, there were big gold items; but the robbers could not break open the door and bigger loss was avoided. Mr. Pandurang Naik, the assistant manager of the temple lodged a complaint with the Ponda police station.

On 29th October, Sree Hanuman Temple at Kone Priyol, on the national highway, was looted. The unknown culprits stole goods worth Rs. 40,000 /-. Mr. Umesh Gawade, the secretary of the ‘Devsthanam’ has registered a complaint with Ponda Police station.
