Mumbai: A discussion program titled ‘Aaj cha Sawal’ was held on ‘IBN Lokmat’ on the issue of burning copies of ‘Quran’ on the occasion of completion of 10 years since the incident of 9/11 took place. In this program, Mr. Abhay Vartak, the spokesperson of ‘Sanatan Sanstha’ had said that Hindus were meted out injustice on a large scale and Hindu temples were being damaged in Goa. Mr. Nikhil Wagale, the editor of the news channel had contended the above statement by claiming that how it was possible that he was not aware of such incidents taking place in Goa despite his being a journalist for many years. He had also given an open challenge to Mr. Vartak that in case he was able to show evidence to that effect, it would be telecast on the channel.

Mr. Vartak went to the channel’s office at Vikroli on the third day after the discussions and handed over related papers with written Government proofs. A month has passed since then. Mr. Vartak thrice followed up the matter with Wagale; but there is no response from him; in fact, Wagale has been trying to avoid taking action. (To give open challenges to others in front of millions of people for cheap publicity and go back on his word when evidence is produced. This is a good example of wrong journalism. The citizens, therefore, no longer believe in the hype created by media because of such mentality ! – Editor SP)

Abdul Kadir, a Muslim thinker, Dolphy D’Souza, the President of Mumbai Catholic Sabha and Uttara Sahastrabuddhe, an analyst of international politics had taken part in the said discussion program along with Mr. Vartak that was telecast on 9th September. Mr. Vartak handed over several photographs of danmaged temples in Goa, paper-cuttings of news about such damages published in different newspapers, a written reply given by Mr. Ravi Naik, the Home Minister of Goa in the Legislative Assembly, information about many complaints taken down by Goa police, letter from Goa police showing their inability to provide protection to temples in the night etc. which comprised more than 100 pages. A copy of the same was also handed over to Mr. Aravind Vitthal Kulkarni, a senior journalist and President of ‘Hindu Manavadhikar Manch’ besides a viewer of the above program. Many renowned personalities who had watched that program, are asking Mr. Vartak whether he has submitted the proof and if so, enquiring that why Mr. Wagale was avoiding showing those proofs on the said channel; why Wagale, despite giving a challenge, was hesitating to show the truth etc. People are wondering as to why Wagale is not talking on the topic of temples even though he has sufficient proof. (Hindus should not just wonder but should boycott such untruthful news channels ! – Editor SP)
