2.5 kg of gold missing in last 4 years from Shri Yamaidevi Temple

Insecure Hindus’ temples !

Lack of ‘Dharmashikshan’ leads to corrupt practices followed in Hindus’ temples ! Devotees should be appointed on the posts of Priests and Trustees in all temples !

Solapur : It has been observed that 2.5 kg of gold has been found missing in last 4 years and no account has been maintained of donations received through donation boxes since the year 1960. A report on inquiry conducted into scam in managing Shri Yamaidevi Devasthan Trust has been submitted to Charity Commissioner 3 months ago; but no action has been taken so far, on the same.

A complaint was lodged with Charity Commissioner about misappropriation by Shri Yamai Temple Trust and missing of 800 grams of gold along with other valuable things. Records of last 4 years were checked during inquiry. There are no accounts maintained since the year 1960 regarding funds collected in donation box. The misappropriated amount will be more than billions. The concerned officer refused to give any details stating that the report was sub-judice. It is, however, learnt that report has recommended closure of this Trust and set up a new Trust. It is also suggested to give representation to all local factions in this Trust.

  1. The existing trustees of the temple need to be thoroughly & properly scrutinized, checked & verified for the loss of gold

  2. The existing trustees of the temple need to be thoroughly & properly scrutinized, checked & properly verified for the loss of gold in the temple. The trustees also need to explain clearly as why no accounts were maintained in the temple from the year 1960 & why this fact was not reported till date ? They also need to explain as to how they were managing the day-today affairs of the temple without any account of it & why the loss of gold was not reported 4 years when the first theft took place ? The trustees of the temple cannot afford to be careless, lazy, irresponsible, casual, unaccountable & insensitive in their approach towards handling the day-to-day affairs of the temple including the accounts of the temple which resulted in not the loss of gold offered to deity of the temple but also their regulars books of account, pointing to a very sorry state of affairs for which the existing trustees of the temple are to be blamed for & punished severely for their gross mistakes NOW.
