Cuncolim (Goa): The locals of Cuncolim received an overwhelming response for the ‘Cuncolim Bandh’ called in to protest against the failure of the police to nab the culprits who desecrated the dome of the small temple of Sree Rakhandev Aajoba, a deity largely worshipped by the local of Cuncolim, at Uskinibandh.

All the banks, offices and other commercial establishments situated in Balli-Cuncolim area participated in the ‘Bandh’. Also, the traffic on the Margao-Karwar highway was blocked for several hours. The ‘bandh’ was observed in a peaceful manner from 6 am to 6 pm. (Hindus always conduct agitations in a peaceful manner. However, the administration either refuses them permission or attempts to crack their agitations, thus inviting their fury. – Editor)

Christians too, participated in this agitation. No untoward incident occurred during the ‘Bandh’ excluding one stone-pelting incident on a bus at Kombikhuris, Cuncolim. The residents of Cuncolim have warned of continuing the agitation till the culprits of the said desecration episode are booked.
